1940 Chevrolet Master 85 Business Coupe

This striking 1940 Cevrolet Master 85 Business Coupe has been in Christina and Gary Byrer’s family in Bicknell, Indiana for 50 years. The couple bought the car for $50 from Christina’s brother, Bill, when they married in 1959.  Bill died at a young age and in 1999 the Byrers began restoring the Business Coupe in his memory. To begin it was taken off its frame and extensive work done on the car’s front and rear end, wheels and brakes, electrical system and steering. In addition to new custom interior the vehicle has a remanufactured 350 ci Chevy Short Block turbo transmission. And notice how its restored exterior is punctuated with 1956 Olds Fiesta Spinner hubcaps. Christina and Gary drive the 1940 Chevy regularly and enjoy taking it to cruise-ins. But what they love is driving it in parades that go past nursing homes and seeing residents smile and say, “I had a coupe just like that.”
