1951 Cadillac

When he was 8 years old, Larry Dodd’s uncle bought a new 1951 Cadillac that made such an impression, Larry never forgot it. “It wasn’t a Ford or a Chevy – it was a Cadillac,” Larry says – and that meant something to him.  Three years ago – and just a few years older himself -- Larry acquired his own ’51 Cadillac, but it was in poor condition. He went to work on the car’s transformation to this stunning vehicle – undoubtedly just as striking as his uncle’s new Cadillac nearly 60 years ago. The restoration included a rebuilt 331 ci engine and rebuilt transmission, a new electric motor for the power windows (true luxury in 1951) and a motor for the car’s rear heater. Larry and his wife, Glenda -- who live in Lavonia, Georgia – have owned the ’51 Cadillac for three years. They enjoy taking this elegant classic to car shows and driving it in parades.
